love

Yesterday, a friend asked me what love is. Unsurprisingly, I was lost for words. It was one of those rare moments when I couldn't seem to formulate a logical and judicious answer so I resorted to reply with a lame quote. I know that love refers to a variety of feelings and this diversity, and complexity, makes it unusually difficult for anyone to give it a constant, single definition.

I have long given up trying to define it because I believe love is one of those things that is better felt or acted upon than discerned and scrutinized by logic and reason.

Who are we to be questioning, wondering what is what?

Sometimes, it's just better to give in to the feeling and not wrestle with what your mind's saying. Stop asking questions. Life is too short to be spent on such trivialities.

Just trust your heart. It will guide you.

I hope it's that easy... smooth and carefree.

Unfortunately even though we face all sorts of risks in love, and fight them, a lot still fail and fall victim...

That's when we start saying "learn from your mistakes and charge it to experience"

@coldman: Ahaha. Bitter ka? Wag ganun Kuya. :P

@yoshke: Aw. In time you'll know why you had to do that. That's how it works. :)

I don't know if I'm just weirdly "fluffy" about this topic lately but, everything's brighter if you look at it positively.

Hope you're doing better, Yoshke.

@kris jasper: That's true Kuya. Then again, we need a little shake every now and then to appreciate the "smooth and carefree" circumstances afterwards. (Makes sense, no?) Hahaha.

We get burned for a reason. :)

And yes, charge it to experience. If not, charge it to your card and shop your worries away. :P Works all the time.

As what I have always said (and believed syempre, hehe), there should be no conflict between the mind and the heart. They're not rivals, but a team. Once your heart feels love, use your mind to do everything in your power to follow and protect your heart.

Let the heart point the direction, but trust the mind to clear the way.

To hell with everything else.

maybe we don't have to define it. maybe we just have to feel it.

feel it now.

@jeland: Well, we've already talked about this kaya nde ko na sagutin to dito. Hahaha. :P

(Palusot lang kasi hindi pa rin ako makapag-isip ng isasagot pero gusto ko lang na maka-reply sa comments.)

Basta, the idea of "protecting the heart" is the one line that got stuck in my head.
